March 28, 2009 my mother and mother-in-law hosted a wonderful baby shower at my home for me. It was so nice to get together with friends and family and visit, I had such a wonderful time. The gifts were so cute!!
Nathan's Work Baby Celebration/Shower
Dinosaur Cut Outs
We decided to go with the Dinosaur bedding and I had my heart set on repainting the room until Nathan came up with the idea of making dinosaurs for the walls to match the bedding instead (this is his way of getting out of painting around the windows, doors, etc. in the room). The entire time he's trying to explain this idea to me I'm thinking....were not artists....these are going to turn out horrible...

Bedding:
First Step: Take pictures of dinosaur bedding and use a projector to project the pictures onto the boards and draw them.
Second Step: Cut out the dinosaurs and sand the edges
Third Step: Use the projector again to add all the little details to the dinosaurs
Fourth Step (and sixth and seventh and.....): Paint
Finished:

So yes my genious husband had a wonderful idea. I love how the dinosaurs turned out!

March 10th Dr Check Up
My 29th week check up apointment went well. Hunter's heartbeat is 144 BPM and he is moving around like crazy. I go back March 31st for yet another check up. My last ultrasound will be scheduled around my 36th week.
Pediatrician Meet & Greet
March 10th
Being a first time mom I have no clue of what to do and what to expect so I thought it would be best to choose a pediatrician before Hunter's born so that I would be prepared for when he arrives. Nathan and I chose to go with the local University Medical Associates since I work for the university. I was thrilled to find out that one of our neighbors was a pediatrician at the facility...she is going to hate being our neighbors now...she's just across the street from us :) The meet and greet went great and I feel more relaxed now knowing Hunter has a pediatrician that I can take him too.

Baby Registry
On Feb 14th Nathan and I decided to register for all the little baby things we think we need or are just too cute to live without.

First stop: Babies-R-Us. This store has everything and I mean everything you could ever imagine for babies and of course they don't make one of everything they make a couple dozen different bottles, nipples, baths, strollers, carseats and the list goes on and on. After two hours...Nathan's back was hurting so he relaxed in one of the comfy chairs while I browsed through some of the clothes. After three hours we were finally finished and I was so thankful.
Next stop: Target. Thank God Target only carries a small selection so it only took us an hour to register.
We had planned on also registerring at Walmart but our local store no longer has the registry scanners so I was able to do that one online.
All said and done I am more confused on what we need and what brands, colors, etc. to even buy!

Just For Fun
Ok...so I have to say that this is just for fun because if Emily sees the outcomes of some of these baby morphings.....she may never let Hunter enter the world!!! With that in mind I have been thinking a lot about what this little guy is gonna look like. I mean- the deck is stacked against him, at least on my shallow end of the gene pool...but I did some searching! Since Emily's eyes are green and my eyes are blue, there is a 50/50 shot for Hunters eyes to be green and a 50/50 shot for them to be blue .
So Emily will be happy about that! At the same time I decided to do a little messing around with some picture morphing software and see (just for laughs) what the little tyke could possibly look like. I only tried a few times....but these are what I ended up with.

So....more to come.....Possibly....we will see what Em thinks of these!!!!

Chances are most of you who read the blog already knew the going name for our "home makeover baby addition" which will come to fruition in May. Even so Emily chose to take a page out of the Weaver baby blog handbook with the ole' "Cat...Bag?" story, and mentioned his name in one of her recent blogs. Anyways...not as though it was some big surprise but the lil bun in the oven will go by Hunter Ehren Chapman, when he is not being oogeled and baby talked to being called cutie and sweetie. We did very little quibbling about what the name would be (although Emily wanted to name him after furniture at first "Ethan Allen") but more so about how we would spell it. I do not profess to be an excellent speller, in fact….any blog I type, is first written in Microsoft Word and spell checked before I ever even think about posting it, but I really think I am right on this one. I wanted something strong and with character and we both agreed on the name (AARON) but I wanted a different spelling! Em waivered a bit but started throwing out some suggestions....she leaned strongly towards erin, erinn, ehrin, ehrinne.....but I denounced them all as feminine spellings. Finally I talked her into the old English (Irish) spelling "Ehren" I love it!!!! Some may think that I am naming my son after one of my favorite things to do....this is not the case, if it were his name would have been golfer!!!! But that is not very becoming now is it.
February 2nd Ultrasound & Dr Appt
Braxton Hicks
Being that this is my first baby I'm reading the baby books like crazy to not only find out what's new with the baby but to also keep me informed of changes that are happening with my body. The book I rely on the most is a week to week book that tells me what to expect....I have however lost faith in this as it did not tell me contractions could begin this early on.
Long story short...contractions began Saturday night (Jan 31st) and I was completely freaking out. I called the OB emergency line at the hospital and she quickly informed me that I was probably experiencing braxton hicks (sporadic uterine contractions). I hung up the phone and of course worried the rest of the weekend but was so thankful I had another ultrasound scheduled for Monday so that I could be reassured that everything was okay.

Ultrasound & Dr Check Up

Jan 30, 2009 (23-24 week)
Good News! We found out that the amniotic fold that the Dr thought he saw on the 20 week ultrasound is gone. Our little boy is moving around like crazy and already weighs 1 lb 10 ounces. I was a little shocked to hear that since I haven't gained but maybe a pound or two and the lady kept saying your sure feeding this baby well. The baby books say he should weigh around 1 lb - 1 1/4 lbs so I guess he's not at the monster weight I was imagining when the lady was talking about how big he was :)
Every time we have an ultrasound the technician records the entire session for us...however this time there was a glitch in the end of the DVD when she went into the 3D/4D view and it wasn't recorded. The technician offered to have us come back in again next week for another ultrasound so she could record the baby in 3D/4D so were excited to get to see him again.

First Piece of Nursery Furniture

On Sunday, January 18th we purchased the very first piece of furniture for the nursery. A cozy chair and ottoman that glide. Bargain shopper me found it for $25 second hand. Now if we can just talk Grandma (Lynne) Chapman into helping us recover it :)
Oh...the many nights we'll spend cuddled up rocking Hunter!!!
Nursery Bedding
January 17, 2009
Who knew that bedding so small could be so expensive! Since Nathan was spending the day with friends in Columbus, I decided to tag along and begin looking for nursery bedding. To my surprise I was shocked at how much this stuff costs. It ranges from $100-$650! After going to an upscale store and leaving disappointed I found a Baby's-R-Us and decided what the heck its worth a try. Thankfully they were having a two day sale that took an extra 75% off the already reduced clearance price of any bedding and room decor. I'm not so great at making decisions like these on my own so I bought four different bedding sets and decided we could just take back whatever we didn't want.
So I ended up buying:
Winnie the Pooh 4 piece bedding set (originally $180) for $40 and a mobile to match (was $44) for $7.
Jacks (X's Bedding) 3 piece bedding set (originally around $100) for $16, a mobile for $3 and a rug to match for $4.
Dinosaur 6 piece bedding set (originally $180) for $40, curtain valances $3 and a matching lamp for $7.
Safari 3 piece bedding set (originally around $120) for $22 and a matching baby blanket for $2.
Total: $155
I'll never forget this experience since there was another guy on the phone running around piling bedding in his cart talking to his wife on the phone as I was doing the very same thing. We kept laughing at each other as we had no clue what to buy. The employees just looked at us like we were loonies. I think he bought 6 or 7 sets! After 2.5 hours I finally left and couldn't believe the bargains I had found. Now we just have to decide what were going to keep. I'm leaning towards Winnie the Pooh and Nathan's leaning towards the Dinosaurs. I love all the bedding but am surprised were going with something more traditional since I had my heart set on a more modern type of bedding but for the price I'll definitely settle :)

Growing Tummy
Nathan and I are taking weekly photos at home of me in my "Mommy-to-Be" shirt so we can see the changes from week to week of my growing tummy (we plan to post these around the time that I am due as a collage of some sort). In the meantime...Renee Perry has also volunteered to take my picture every week at work so she can watch the progress as well. I will keep updating these as we take them: 1st picture (red shirt) was taken Dec 30th (19 wks); 2nd picture (black shirt) was taken Jan 7th (20 wks); 3rd picture (white shirt) was taken Jan 21st (22 wks); 4th picture (red long sleeve shirt) was taken Feb 2nd (24wks) ; 5th picture (red short sleeve shirt) was taken Feb 13th (26wks); 6th picture (green short sleeve shirt) was taken Feb 23 (27wks); 7th picture (gray short sleeve shirt) was taken Feb 26th (27wks); 8th picture (cream short sleeve shirt) was taken March 6th (29wks); 9th picture (brown long sleeve sweater) was taken March 31st (32wks):
Daddy feels Hunter Kick!
January 15, 2008
Even though it hasn't been that strong and consistent, I have had the joy of feeling Hunter kick for a couple of weeks now . Nathan has been trying to feel him and was finally able to last night. He is kicking more and more as the days go by and is definitely getting stronger. My favorite is when I'm sitting on the couch after dinner...he goes crazy!
