Pugsley

On Wednesday, April 22nd Pugsley passed away. He became sick on Tuesday, April 21st and suddenly went down hill within a day. We had blood tests and xrays done at the vet's office but they couldn't find anything wrong. We are still in shock as to what happened and why he was taken from us so quickly.

For those of you who know us well know that Pugsley was more like our little boy rather than our pet. Nathan's family in Spokane, Washington owned Pugsley (until he was around 2 years old or so) and wanted to get rid of him so we had him flown over to us in 2002 I believe. I couldn't wait for him to get here as I fell in love with him the minute I saw him in Spokane. He has lived with my parents, Nate's parents, in our first home (The Yellow Rental) and our newly built home. We have tried to give him the best puppy life he could possibly have with tons of treats, a special dinner every night, his little toys (his favorite was the little mice cat's play with) and a comfy bed. I don't know how many times I just stared at that dog thinking I couldn't love anything more than I loved him. He was always by my side no matter what I was doing....watched me cook dinner every night, sat beside me while I cleaned the house, barked when I swept the floors and the list goes on and on. Nathan and I never thought we would loose Pugsley when we did and we have both taken it very hard. He was so special to both of us and no other pet will ever take his place. We buried him in a sunny place in our woods where flowers bloom each year and plan on ordering a stone with his picture on it.

Do We Have Enough Diapers???

For those of you who have heard the diaper story know....that bargain shopper me had $5 off diaper/wipe coupons....I think we might have enough :)

Baby Hunter's Room

As I'm approaching the 35 week mark Nathan and I are getting more and more nervous about baby Hunter's arrival. I've had so much fun these last few weeks with all of the showers we have had and the gifts we have received that I just set around in his room gazing at everything and wondering how it will be when he arrives. Currently his room looks more like a baby department store so this week we plan to begin putting everything together and setting up his room.

Updated: First Piece of Nursery Furniture

If you remember from an earlier post Nathan and I purchased a glider and ottoman for $25 secondhand. Grandma (Lynne) Chapman was nice enough to reupholster both the chair and ottoman for baby Hunter's Room :)

Emily's Work Shower

On April 7th my work had a "surprise" shower for me (okay, I admit it....I snooped and found out about it beforehand so it wasn't really a surprise). The shower was absolutely wonderful with all kinds of yummy food and tons of gifts. Everyone was so sweet!

Childbirth Education Class 101

On April 5th Nathan & I attended the Childbirth Class at O'bleness Memorial Hospital. After 3.5 hours of videos, diagrams and breathing and relaxation demonstrations Nathan was to say the least bored to death (of course he was...he has nothing to worry about!). We then toured the birth center....I thought this would help put my mind at ease but seemed to just make the birthing process even more scarier to me. I think Hunter's comfy where he's at...why should we disturb him???? :)

Baby Shower at Home

March 28, 2009 my mother and mother-in-law hosted a wonderful baby shower at my home for me. It was so nice to get together with friends and family and visit, I had such a wonderful time. The gifts were so cute!!

Nathan's Work Baby Celebration/Shower

On March 20th Nathan's work had a baby celebration/shower for the two of us at a local restaurant (The Oak Room). Everyone was so sweet and we received some wonderful gifts. We are both so thankful to have such great friends!

Dinosaur Cut Outs

We decided to go with the Dinosaur bedding and I had my heart set on repainting the room until Nathan came up with the idea of making dinosaurs for the walls to match the bedding instead (this is his way of getting out of painting around the windows, doors, etc. in the room). The entire time he's trying to explain this idea to me I'm thinking....were not artists....these are going to turn out horrible...

Bedding:

First Step: Take pictures of dinosaur bedding and use a projector to project the pictures onto the boards and draw them.

Second Step: Cut out the dinosaurs and sand the edges

Third Step: Use the projector again to add all the little details to the dinosaurs

Fourth Step (and sixth and seventh and.....): Paint

Finished:

So yes my genious husband had a wonderful idea. I love how the dinosaurs turned out!

March 10th Dr Check Up

My 29th week check up apointment went well. Hunter's heartbeat is 144 BPM and he is moving around like crazy. I go back March 31st for yet another check up. My last ultrasound will be scheduled around my 36th week.

Pediatrician Meet & Greet

March 10th

Being a first time mom I have no clue of what to do and what to expect so I thought it would be best to choose a pediatrician before Hunter's born so that I would be prepared for when he arrives. Nathan and I chose to go with the local University Medical Associates since I work for the university. I was thrilled to find out that one of our neighbors was a pediatrician at the facility...she is going to hate being our neighbors now...she's just across the street from us :) The meet and greet went great and I feel more relaxed now knowing Hunter has a pediatrician that I can take him too.

Baby Registry

On Feb 14th Nathan and I decided to register for all the little baby things we think we need or are just too cute to live without.

First stop: Babies-R-Us. This store has everything and I mean everything you could ever imagine for babies and of course they don't make one of everything they make a couple dozen different bottles, nipples, baths, strollers, carseats and the list goes on and on. After two hours...Nathan's back was hurting so he relaxed in one of the comfy chairs while I browsed through some of the clothes. After three hours we were finally finished and I was so thankful.

Next stop: Target. Thank God Target only carries a small selection so it only took us an hour to register.

We had planned on also registerring at Walmart but our local store no longer has the registry scanners so I was able to do that one online.
All said and done I am more confused on what we need and what brands, colors, etc. to even buy!
