As I approached my dreaded 31st birthday today I felt a huge disappointment in getting older, not completing my life goal (to have 2 children before 30 was over) etc....etc.....But then Nathan reminded me of how much I have to be thankful for....our precious little boy, our family, our wonderful house we had built, our jobs and the list goes on and on.
So today on my birthday I just want to be thankful for everything especially all the little things in my life that make things so special (that I'm sure people don't realize how much it means to me)....the little things on my birthday:
- My husband who made sure to hold my hand in the middle of the night just because he was awake...and how he decorated the kitchen with birthday decor before I got out of bed
- My little boy who gave me a great big hug this morning and told me "Happy Birthday" before I left for work
- For the phone call from my mother who sang "Happy Birthday" to me
- My best friend who made sure she told me "Happy Birthday" on Facebook before anyone else could
- My wonderful coworker and friend who went out of her way to bring me something special for breakfast
- My mother-in-law who emailed me and said "Today, because it is your birthday the sun decided to shine. I hope you have a great day."
- My coworkers who took the time today to join me for a great birthday lunch
- For the coworker and friend who cared enough to put together a small box of chocolates for me
- All of the Facebook, email and text messages I received wishing me "Happy Birthday"
- For the family dinner that is planned for me tonight
It's the little things that mean the most in life and I am so thankful for everything especially these "little" things. Take time for those wonderful little things in your life - the little things that most of us miss out on because were so busy with our day-to-day schedules.
